Roseland
About the artist
A solo project initiated by Emeline Marceau (member of the duo Genial au Japon), ROSELAND emerged one winter evening in 2016 amidst the strumming of guitar chords and layers of synths. Drawing inspiration from M83, Radiohead, St. Vincent, Portishead, Fever Ray, and Sharon Van Etten, she unveils a broad rock, pop, electro, and post-rock legacy in her luminous or more melancholic songs, always distinguished by their refined melodies. A kind of modern synth-rock, where the vocals, sometimes fragile, sometimes bold, whisper as much as they soar in a surge of exhilaration, tenderness, or electricity—hallmarks of this sensitive yet energetic project that takes the form of a trio on stage.
In live performances, the project has already made waves, notably in Aquitaine, particularly in Bordeaux (Rock School Barbey, IBoat, Antirouille, Festival Bordeaux Rock), but also elsewhere in France (Cognac, Besançon, Dijon, Tulle...) and abroad (Switzerland). After a debut EP in 2017, the musician—supported by the talent scouting and mentoring program of Rock School Barbey in Bordeaux since 2019—released her first album "To Save What Is Left" in March 2020, followed by an EP, "Remixes" (December 2020). Her second album, "Unsaid Words," was released on March 25, 2022, followed by a subsequent tour.

Unsaid Words
Second long format after "To Save What Is Left," released in 2020, "Unsaid Words", the new album of the Bordeaux-based ROSELAND, announces itself as a beautiful release for spring 2022. Composed for the most part during the confinement of winter-spring 2020, it reveals a real patchwork of emotions and colors that place its creator directly at a thousand leagues from the musical fashions and styles too easily codified or codifiable by the diktat of media marketing.

Its pop, synthetic, electronic, or sometimes almost post-rock contours elegantly dress a voice that whispers as much as it is carried away and come to fill its melodies with sensitivity as luminous as melancholic. Particularly rich and dense (12 tracks), the album is thus in its cover image: modern, plural and twirling.
