Carmeline
About the artist
Self-taught artist Carmeline, a singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer, was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, to a French mother and a Palestinian father. Her first singles, "ALl-EN" (featured in the Nike Play New campaign), "1000 VIES," and "ZAHIR Ft. Leone," reveal a determined and liberated woman who fully embraces her heritage. Drawing on oriental sounds from her Palestinian roots—her name is a nod to Mount Carmel in Haifa—Carmeline weaves these influences into a modern, urban musical aesthetic, seamlessly blending French and Arabic in her vocals and raps. This hybrid identity is also reflected in her visuals, crafted by the French all-female director group Kourtrajmeuf (known for work with Orelsan, Givenchy, Nike) and Belgian photographer and director Charlotte Abramow (noted for projects with Angele, Lous and The Yakuza, Yseult).
This summer, Carmeline showcased her talent on the stages of some of France's biggest festivals (Delta Festival, Aluna Festival, Au Pont du Rock, Freemusic, Francofolies) and opened for renowned French rapper SCH in his hometown of Marseille. Through her powerful music, Carmeline continues to break down stereotypes and boundaries, addressing complex themes such as identity and self-discovery. With each performance, she asserts her place in the music world, fearlessly confronting and transcending the limits imposed on her.
